Original unissued New York Highlanders stock certificate dating from the club’s 1903 inaugural season. As noted on the certificate, $100 would allow for the purchase of one share of capital stock in the “Greater New York Baseball Association.” This particular certificate is numbered 27 and has not been signed or issued. The New York Highlanders maintaned that name until the 1913 season when they moved to the Polo Grounds and were renamed the Yankees. The certificate (11.5 x 9.25 inches) displays a few very light creases in the corner areas and a slight edge tear but still presents in excellent condition overall. Very cool piece!!!
