Bob Swift played 14 seasons in the majors donning the tools of ignorance for the St. Louis Browns (1940-42), Philadelphia A's (1942-43), and Detroit Tigers (1944-53). Swift was a solid platoon catcher during his career and was a member of the 1945 Detroit Tigers World Series Championship team. Following his playing career Swift was a coach and manager in the majors with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City A's, and Washington Senators. Swift also gained some national recognition as the catcher in the now famous Eddie Gaedel at bat photo. This gamer dates to the 1950-53 seasons while Swift was with the Detroit Tigers. The bat shows heavy use and has a chipped knob. Nice gamer from this former player!!!
