Charlie Lau played for 11 seasons in the majors as a catcher from 1956-1967. Although Lau didn't post spectacular stats as a player, he was most certainly paying attention, as his post playing career as a hitting coach yielded great results for his pupils. While Lau wore the uniform, under his tutelege were such Kansas City hitters as: Hal McRae, Amos Otis, Willie Wilson, and George Brett. This stable of young hitters certainly added to the lore of Charlie Lau. His "Absolutes of Hitting" have become staples from which to teach. This gamer is a home jersey dating to the 1977 season. The jersey shows moderate wear and was manufactured by Wilson. Both the size 46 tag and year tag are stitched in the back neckline collar. The team logo patch adorns the left sleeve. Truly a great piece of Kansas City Royals baseball history!!!!! LOA from jersey expert Dave Miedema accompanies this lot.
