Mel Ott played 22 seasons in the majors all with the New York Giants (1926-1947). Ott was named to 12 All-Star teams (11 consecutive) and led the N.L. in Home Runs 6 times. Altogether Ott amassed 511 Homers with a .304 career batting average during his productive career. Ott ordered this bat for use during the 1937 season which saw him hit 37 HR's and drive in 95 runs. The bat shows heavy use and has a handle crack and chipped knob. The bat has several condition issues stemming from improper storage as well as amateur repairs. Professional restoration could really help the presentation value of this bat. Because of the improper storage and amateur repairs the amount of use contributed solely to Ott is undiscernible. Regardless the bat remains a desirable relic that was most likely in Ott's hands during the 1937 season. A nice cost effective gamer from a tough member of the 500 HR Club!
