Freddie Patek played 14 years in the majors shoring up the middle infield for the Pirates (1968-70), Royals (1971-79), and Angels (1980-81). Patek picked up 1,340 hits, 41 Home Runs, 490 RBI, and 385 Stolen Bases. In addition to Patek's ability to handle the bat he was also an outstanding fielder. These qualities helped him receive 2 All-Star nominations (1976, 1978). A member of the Kansas City Royals Hall Of Fame Patek was all hustle an attribute that made him a fan favorite. This Home Flannel was worn by Patek during the 1972 season and shows light to moderate wear. 1972 was the last year that the Kansas City Royals wore flannels switching to knits at mid season. The jersey is all original and is appropriately tagged by Wilson in the front tail as well as exhibiting a strip tag in the collar reading "72-set2". Very nice tough to find unaltered flannel from one of the Kansas City Royals early stars! LOA from jersey expert Dave Miedema accompanies this lot
