Ed Kirkpatrick played 16 seasons in the bigs taking the field for the California Angels (1962-68), Kansas City Royals (1969-73), Pittsburgh Pirates (1974-77), Texas Rangers (1977), and Milwaukee Brewers (1977). Kirkpatrick collected 824 hits, 85 Homers, and 424 RBI's during his career. In addition to helping 2 organizations get off the ground (Angels & Royals) Kirkpatrick was also an important component of the 1974 & 1975 N.L. East Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. This bat dates to Kirkpatrick's time with the Kansas City Royals organization which saw him post the 2 highest Home Run and RBI totals of his career. This bat was used by Kirkpatrick during the 1972 season. A notation on the bat states that this bat was used in the last game of the season in 1972. That game would be the Royals final appearance at Municipal Stadium. Kirkpatrick got 2 hits and Roger Nelson pitched a 2 hitter in that game. Nice relic from Kirkpatrick and the Royals franchise!
