Roger Maris played for 12 seasons in the majors taking the field for the Cleveland Indians (1957-58), Kansas City A's (1958-59), New York Yankees (1960-66), and St.Louis Cardinals (1967-68). Maris was a 2x A.L. MVP but is best remembered for breaking Babe Ruth's single season home run record by slugging 61 in 1961. Following his time with the Yankees Maris signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. Roger Maris was the unsung hero for the Cards in the 1967 World Series. Batting .385 ( 10 / 26 ) with a double, Home-run in his 6th World Series and 7 RBIs.1967 was the best post season of his career, and he helped the Cardinals win their second Championship of the decade. This Hillerich & Bradshy model A-92 is un-cracked, exhibits evidence of outstanding use and ideal player characteristics earning a perfect GU 10 by authentication expert John Taube at PSA/DNA. Many ball marks & stitch impressions are visible on all sides of the barrel. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern which was common for Maris in 1967 (see pics). The pictures below shows Maris during World Series play swinging a very similar, if not the same bat. The bat Maris is swinging in the photos displays identical patina, tape discoloration, and discernible marks leading us to believe this is the same bat as listed in this lot. These photos are from one of the Cardinals road games at Fenway park (1,2,6, or 7). Maris number and weight ( 33 1/3 ) are written on the knob in black marker. Also written is the weight ( 33 1/3 ) in black pencil. An ideal Maris bat for any serious game used collector to add to their collection. Don't miss out on this likely 1967 World Series Game Used bat Graded 10 by PSA! This lot contains a reserve.
