Clyde Sukeforth wore this stunning Brooklyn Dodgers cap during the 1947 season. Sukeforth was an important part of Jackie Robinson's ascension into "white baseball" as he scouted Robinson on bequest of Branch Rickey and then escorted Robinson to Rickey's office where he was one of three people (Sukeforth, Robinson, & Rickey) to witness baseball history as Rickey offered Robinson a contract with the Dodgers top affiliate in Montreal. Sukeforth was wearing this cap in 1947 while serving as Opening Day interim manager for the Brooklyn Dodgers for suspended skipper Leo Duroucher. That historic day of course saw Jackie Robinson's debut in Major League Baseball. Historically significant cap from the first man to insert Jackie Robinson into a Major League Baseball line-up! Don't miss out on this highly desirable relic! This lot contains a reserve
